Avengers: Endgame

“Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Brie Larson reprise their roles as the Marvel superheroes in this action sequel directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

“Following on from Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the surviving Avengers attempt to undo the destruction caused by Thanos (Josh Brolin) and the Infinity Stones.”

Aladdin

“Guy Ritchie co-writes and directs this live-action fantasy adventure starring Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott and Will Smith.

“Street urchin Aladdin (Massoud) meets the beautiful Princess Jasmine of Agrabah (Scott) by chance in the marketplace after she sneaks out of the royal palace to walk among her people. The sultan’s advisor, the evil Grand Vizier Jafar (Marwan Kenzari), who is plotting to rule the kingdom himself, senses Aladdin’s attraction to the princess and promises to make him rich if he can first bring him a magical lamp containing a powerful Genie (Smith). After venturing into the Cave of Wonders in search of the lamp, Aladdin’s quest to defeat Jafar and win the hand of the princess begins.”

Rocketman

“Taron Egerton stars as Elton John in this musical biopic of the English musician.

“When the ordinary and relative unknown Reg Dwight makes his first tentative steps in the music business he realises he must stand out if he wishes to make a name for himself and so begins his transition into Elton John. Along the way he is supported by lyricist Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell) but he also experiences a tumultuous relationship with influential figures within the music industry including John Reid (Richard Madden) and Dick James (Stephen Graham). As his fame grows John must avoid all the trappings and difficulties that come with being a superstar.”

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

“Children’s action adventure following Detective Pikachu (voice of Ryan Reynolds) as he investigates his former partner’s mysterious disappearance.

“While looking for his missing father in Ryme City, Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) stumbles upon Detective Pikachu, his dad’s former partner, and discovers he is the only one who can hear him talk. The pair team up to solve the mystery, enlisting the help of aspiring reporter Lucy Stevens (Kathryn Newton) and her Psyduck, but they quickly find themselves investigating a larger conspiracy that threatens to jeopardise the harmonious relationship between humans and Pokémon.”

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

“Keanu Reeves reprises his role as the eponymous hitman in this third instalment of the action franchise.

“After killing a fellow assassin on the grounds of the Continental Hotel, John Wick is declared excommunicado from the league of assassins and a 14-million-dollar bounty is placed on his head. Immediately targeted by every assassin in New York, he is forced to flee the city and seeks refuge with former mentor The Director (Anjelica Huston) before going in search of the head of the High Table to overturn his exiled status.”

Tolkien
